Return to School at Alert Level 2
Point View School welcomes all students back onto the campus on Monday 18th May.
Additional public health control measures will be in place to prevent the spread of disease and to support contact tracing. To ensure all staff are fully briefed in this regard, the May Teacher Only Day has been moved to Friday 15th May. Students who have been on-site during Level 3 will be supervised on this day, but teachers support for distance learning will end on Thursday 14th May. Distance learning materials remain available on our website.
We want to encourage all families to feel confident that the school will operate in the best way to ensure your children remain safe and healthy. The school has been professionally cleaned with additional antiviral spraying each day throughout the Level 3 restrictions. We will continue with this regime at Level 2 with an extra wipe-down of surfaces in the middle of the day.
Other health and safety precautions we are taking during Level 2 include:
No access to classrooms for parents and caregivers
Adults to avoid visits to School Office if possible, by using phone or email No school or syndicate assemblies
Children will eat in classrooms under supervision
Daily reminders of safe hygiene practices
Any sign of illness – send / stay at home
Kilkenny Kids before and after school care and School Lunches will be operating from Monday 18th May. Afterschool classes will be invited to operate from this date but please refer to individual providers for information.
The following guidelines will help:
Morning drop off
- Children to arrive at school from 8.20am onwards unless using before school care with Kilkenny Kids.
- For those Year 1 parents and caregivers who need to hand their children over to a teacher a drop-off zone next to the bus bay outside reception will be signposted.
- Year 2 upwards – children to go straight to classrooms
To prevent spread of Covid-19 and support contact tracing parents and caregivers must stay outside the school campus as far as possible and will not be allowed in or near classrooms. This may mean you have to change your drop-off and pick-up arrangements.
Afternoon pick up
- Students who will be walking home will be allowed to pick up any siblings, then be allowed to leave school promptly at 3pm. Walking school bus will meet outside the Hall as usual.
- Students who are being collected:
o Families to make a plan where to meet their child off-site or on the field
o Siblings to meet and stay together
o For those Year 1 parents and caregivers who need to receive their children back from
a teacher a collection point next to the bus bay outside reception will be signposted. o If parents can’t find their child after a reasonable wait – come to the school office
(Idea: You may consider a family practice drop-off/pick-up one day this week)
Families of Room 26 New Entrant students will receive a separate communication with further details.
We are really looking forward to learning together again at Point View School. If you have any questions, worries or concerns please contact us by email or phone. We are here to help.
