Governance at Point View School: The Role of Our Board of Trustees

At Point View School, our Board of Trustees plays a vital role in ensuring our school is well-managed and provides the best possible environment for our learners to thrive. While our Principal and staff handle the day-to-day running of the school, the Board focuses on governance, the "big picture" strategy and stewardship that keeps us moving forward.

What does the Board do?

The Board of Trustees is accountable for the school’s performance and has the overall responsibility for the school's strategic direction. Their role includes:

  • Strategic Planning: Setting the school’s long-term goals and vision through the Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan.

  • Policy Stewardship: Developing and reviewing school policies to ensure we meet all legal requirements and provide a safe, inclusive environment for learners and staff.

  • Financial Oversight: Managing the school’s budget and ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support student learning and school facilities.

  • Monitoring Learners Progress: Reviewing school wide achievement data and reports

  • Employer Responsibilities: Acting as the legal employer for all staff at the school and supporting the Principal in leading a high performing team.

Working together for our learners

The Board works in close partnership with the Principal, staff, and our school community. By providing strong governance, they ensure that every decision made at the boardroom table is centered on our school motto: "Learning Together."

Our Board members are representatives of our community, committed to ensuring Point View School continues to be a place of excellence where every child can achieve their potential.
