Reporting to Whānau

At Point View School, we value strong partnerships between school and home. Research and guidance from the New Zealand Curriculum highlight that reporting should help build a shared understanding between schools, learners, and whānau about a child’s progress, achievement, and learning journey.

HERO Online Platform

We use the HERO online platform to provide real-time updates about your child’s learning. Through HERO, parents and whānau can see examples of learning, teacher feedback, and next learning steps throughout the year, helping families stay connected to what their child is learning at school.

Reporting is an ongoing process rather than a single event. Schools are expected to share clear information about progress and achievement and report to parents at least twice each year in plain language, particularly in areas such as literacy and mathematics. Through HERO, we can provide regular updates while also celebrating learner successes and supporting conversations between teachers, learners, and families about next steps in learning.

By sharing information in this way, we aim to ensure that parents and whānau feel informed, involved, and confident in supporting their child’s learning journey.
