Our School Zone
At Point View School we have an approved enrolment policy based on a defined geographic zone as shown in the zone map and detailed in the list of street names and house numbers below. If you live within our school Zone you are entitled to enrol at Point View School.
In zone enrolments
Once your application is received we will email you requesting the documentation necessary to complete and confirm enrolment. All documents must be returned within 14 days of application, otherwise you may need to re-apply.
As we need to allow time for placement of learners into an appropriate class and for the teacher to prepare for their arrival, we are not able to start children on the same day that they first arrive to enrol. All new starters are encouraged to start on Mondays during term, and for new entrants the Monday after their fifth birthday.
Out of zone ballot
An Out of Zone ballot is generally held once a year for learners turning five between January and December of the following year. The school’s ability to offer placement is dependent on class numbers at the relevant year level. Successful applicants will need to start on or near their 5th birthday. Enrolment cannot be postponed to the following term or year. Occasionally we may offer a few out of zone places for Year 2 and Year 3 Learners.
What order are applicants accepted in?
Applicants are accepted in this order:
first priority must be given to any applicant who is accepted for enrolment in a special programme run by the school (not applicable at Point View School)
second priority must be given to any applicant who is the sibling of a current student of the school
third priority must be given to any learner who is the sibling of a former student of the school
fourth priority must be given to any applicant who is a child of a former learner of the school
fifth priority must be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the Board of the school or a child of a member of the Board of the school
sixth priority must be given to all other applicants.
If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth, or fifth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary of Education under Section 11G(1) of the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.
Applicants seeking second or third priority status may be required to give proof of a sibling relationship.
When are available spaces determined?
Spaces for 2027 are yet to be determined. The Board of Trustees will decide in late July how many places will be available (if any). They take into account existing and projected rolls.
The schedule of dates for receiving out of zone applications is set by the Ministry of Education and generally opens in August with a ballot (if needed) occurring in October.
We advise that you keep an eye on our website for more information at the beginning of August.
Dates for 2027 Out of Zone enrolments are as follows (if applicable):
